The highly-rated goalkeeper will join on a straight loan without a buy-out clause as United didn't want to take up that option.

This poses as a major addition for Forest shortly after earning Premier League promotion and ending their 23-year exile in the lower tiers.

Henderson burst onto the scene in 2018 during two impressive seasons while on loan at Sheffield United as he helped them climb back to the top flight.

The England international turned heads in the Blades' first season back in the Prem the following year when they finished ninth in the table.

The 25-year-old then returned to Old Trafford and managed to take legendary United keeper David de Gea's place in 10 of the last 12 Premier League games during the 2020-2021 campaign.

However, Henderson suffered a bad case of COVID-19 during pre-season last summer and failed to rival De Gea for a place in goal the following term.

The ex-Grimsby Town loanee is set to get some much desired first-team football as he is looking to seal a spot in Gareth Southgate's England team ahead of the winter's 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He is expected to replace Brice Samba as Forest's No1 as the popular shot-stopper's future at the City Ground is uncertain with his deal running out next year.

SunSport revealed that Nottingham offered Samba a contract worth "more than double" his current salary.

However, the Congolese ace is keen to return to France during the summer transfer window.
