Watch as former Man Utd star Paul Pogba is given hero’s welcome as he’s swarmed by thousands during trip to Guinea

PAUL POGBA has swapped his Manchester United woes for a hero’s reception in Guinea.

The France midfielder, 29, has ended his underwhelming six-year Old Trafford stay and appears set to rejoin Juventus on a four-year deal.

Thousands of fans flooded the streets as Pogba cruised around in an open-top vehicle

Pogba, United’s record £89million signing in 2016, endured a disappointing campaign and came under fire as the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League.

But he received a rapturous welcome as he visited his parents’ Guinean home country on Tuesday.

Thousands of fans turned out to greet the World Cup winner as he paraded through capital city Conakry in an open-topped vehicle.

Pogba is due to play in a charity game to benefit the West African country.

Pogba declared: “It’s very emotional for me to return to the country. 

“My family is here, and I can tell that Guinea has changed.

“I’ve sadly not been able to come over sooner, what with the heavy fixture calendar and the Covid pandemic, but now I am here.

Pogba’s 31-year-old twin brothers, fellow footballers Florentin and Mathias, were born in Conakry before the family moved to Paris.

Paul was born in the Lagny-sur-Marne region of Paris two years later.
