Swansea 1 Liverpool 2: Roberto Firmino inspires rampant Reds comeback win
Leroy Fer got the home side off to a flying start with fourth goal of the season, with Jurgen Klopp's men rampant in second half
ROBERTO FIRMINO inspired a second-half Liverpool comeback, netting an equaliser before winning a penalty - coolly converted by the ever-dependable James Milner.
Fer got the Swans off to a flying start at the Liberty Stadium as the Reds defence switched off from a corner leaving the Dutchman to prod home the ball, completely unmarked, from just a yard out.
After a first half where Liverpool failed to register a single shot on target, it took only nine minutes of the second half for Firmino to find the back of the net as he converted a free header following a Jordan Henderson cross.
With time running out, it was the Brazilian ace again who made the difference, winning a penalty, slotted home by left-back Milner... His third spot-kick success in two weeks.
STATS, FACTS, GOALS & LOLS
- SWANSEA fans were upset with Michael Oliver’s decision in Liverpool territory – but the ref had a decent game overall.
- BORJA needs to get his bearings in the penalty area. The Spanish striker had two headers that should have tested Loris Karius.
- JURGEN KLOPP gets his whole bench involved in the game. After every big chance he is back at the dugout talking with his staff.
- FIRMINO was looking more like a fox-in-the-box predator. He was struggling to get into the game until his headed equaliser.
- ADAM LALLANA energy was missed by Klopp’s lads when he went off injured in the first half.
- SWANSEA supporters also chanted that they were Guidolin’s Army in a show of support for the boss.
- KARIUS looked shaky on crosses and with the ball at his feet after getting picked ahead of Simon Mignolet.
- FER got another helping hand with goal with the linesman judging him onside. It was not as blatant a decision as his foul on Gary Cahill.
- JAMES MILNER looks like a natural left-back. Good engine and tough tackling too.
- DANIEL STURRIDGE needs to fight his way into contention again for club and country, with Gareth Southgate naming his England squad tomorrow.
