Allan McGregor offered big-money Middle East move as Rangers ‘keeper ponders future
ALLAN McGREGOR has been offered the chance to end his career in the desert.
SunSport can reveal a two-year deal is on the table from the UAE as the goalkeeper ponders his next move.
The 40-year-old is out of contract after helping Rangers reach last season’s Europa League Final but talks with the Ibrox club have not advanced with McGregor not shy of offers elsewhere.
A move to the Middle East would hand the ex-Scotland international one last bumper pay day.
But it’s understood money isn’t the motivating factor as McGregor plots his next chapter.
Reports earlier this month claimed Gers boss Gio van Bronckhorst could be poised to name Jon McLaughlin as his new No 1.
That would leave McGregor as back-up, allowing him more time to explore coaching opportunities.
Yet it’s understood McGregor is keen to play on as first choice.
Rangers have already secured Connor Goldson, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield on new contracts and are set for more talks with McGregor while he mulls over the offer from the UAE.
Meanwhile, Gers have been linked with 22-year-old Norwegian striker Erik Botheim, who is available on a free after leaving Russian side Krasnodar.
Elsewhere, Hibs are close to tying up a deal for freed Rangers defender Kyle McClelland.
SunSport can reveal a long-term contract has been hammered out which would see the Northern Ireland Under-21s star move to Easter Road.
Several English clubs showed an interest on McClelland, including Premier League West Ham.
