Man Utd 2022-23 fixtures announced with Erik ten Hag facing tough start to season including Liverpool and Arsenal

MANCHESTER UNITED will welcome Brighton to Old Trafford on the opening day of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

It could be a tricky first test for Erik ten Hag as the Seagulls beat United 4-0 in their last encounter.

But the new Red Devils boss faces a much more difficult task in his next home game with Liverpool the visitors.

Before that United will travel to Brentford for their first away league fixture while visits to Southampton and Leicester round off a tough opening month.

After that it is top four rivals Arsenal who visit Old Trafford with the reverse fixture taking place on January 21.

It will be a tough couple of weeks for United as they host the Manchester derby on January 14, with the first match against Manchester City pencilled in for October 1.

United travel to Anfield on March 4 and host Premier League newboys Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, so Ten Hag may feel confident about the prospect of some festive celebrations.

The Dutchman may also be optimistic about his side's run-in with the last two games of the season against promoted sides Bournemouth and Fulham.

United do face tricky games against Chelsea and Tottenham in April but those are the only two fixtures against the top six in their last 12 matches.

United face a similar run-in to round off the first part of the season, with games against Aston Villa and Fulham before the Premier League is suspended for the Qatar World Cup.

The league campaign resumes on Boxing Day with a trip to Wolves following the Forest clash.

United then start 2023 with the visit of Bournemouth before the FA Cup third round a week later.

The season ends later than usual on May 28 due to the World Cup as teams face busy periods in October and April - with 12 games to be played across the two months.
