BOXER Edgar Berlanga has apologised for his "Mike Tyson bite" on an opponent and admitted he's "embarrassed" by it.
The super-middleweight faced Colombian Roamer Alexis Angulo over ten rounds in New York.
But in the seventh controversy erupted as Berlanga sunk his teeth into Angulo but went unpunished.
It was shades of Tyson's infamous 1997 bite on Evander Holyfield, which saw him disqualified in their rematch.
Berlanga, who went on to win via unanimous decision, appeared to shrug off the incident immediately after the fight.
He told : "He was throwing elbows. I was about to do a Mike Tyson on him.

"I was in the moment and got a little ahead of myself.

"It doesn’t take away from the embarrassment that I have caused upon myself, my team, top ranks, and many others.
"I reacted poorly and take full responsibility. Moving forward, I am going to be more mindful and encouraging in my behavior.
"Once again, I do apologize."
Berlanga, 25, is a highly-touted prospect and at one point scored 16 straight knockouts in the FIRST ROUND.
He has since won four more times but all on points as his competition has been stepped up.
Angulo, 38, provided American-born Berlanga with the toughest test in his unbeaten career so far.
