Six players have been granted free transfers, while a further three have been released from Bramall Lane.

Former Irish international McGoldrick, 34, played 136 times for Sheffield United and was pivotal to the side that were promoted from the Championship in 2018-19.

Mousset meanwhile has struggled since his £10m move from Bournemouth in 2019 and was shipped off to Serie A side Salernitana for the second half of the season just gone.

In total the French striker scored just nine goals in 53 appearances for the club.

Elsewhere former QPR man Luke Freeman is another to have been granted a free transfer after not making the club's retained list.

The midfielder joined for £5m back in 2019 but has played just 24 times for the club, spending spells on loan with Nottingham Forest and Millwall more recently.

Croatian international defender Filip Uremovic will also leave the club after Sheffield United signed him from Russian club Rubin Kazan.

The Blades were the first English club to sign a foreign player from Russia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine in March this year.

Youngsters Angelo Cappello, Harvey Cullinan, Beau Anderson, Tyrese Bailey-Green and Ethan Slater will all depart too.

The Blades finished the Championship season in fifth-place but lost were beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Nottingham Forest.

After losing the first leg 2-1 at home the Blades rallied to win the return fixture by the same scoreline, before ultimately crashing out on penalties.

The match was marred by striker Billy Sharp being assaulted by a home fan during a pitch invasion.

Robert Biggs was subsequently jailed for 24 weeks and banned from attending football matches for 10 years following the attack.

Blades man Oli McBurnie is also alleged to have stamped on a Forest supporter.
