UFC star Conor McGregor has made a shock admission regarding Tony Ferguson in a since deleted tweet.

The Dubliner admitted that he feels regret over the way he went after 'El Cucuy' following his defeat to Michael Chandler at UFC 274.

The pair once shared the same management team, Paradigm Sports Management before the American changed team after a number of public spats with the Irish fighter. 

In a now deleted tweet the former two-weight champion expressed regret over how he went off at the former interim lightweight title holder after his UFC 274 loss.

McGregor tweeted: I’m upset I went at Tony like that. Out straight. Wtf team, this is not a nice app nor does it encourage nice behavior toward each other. 43bn, man pull that and say ‘sike’ who give a f*ck, really. No one. Dip to a dip on the ship. The carry the toys ship. Leave a beast a beast.

The side lined former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is currently preparing for an return to the Octagon after his horrific leg break in the Trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

The Crumlin native has only just returned to sparring ahead of his Octagon return later this year.

McGregor has been linked to a number of fights in the 155lbs and 170lbs divisions, but has yet to confirm at what weight class he will return.

Usman welterweight kingpin confirmed that he'd be interested in the fight for the historical legacy surrounding a potential bout with the Dubliner.

If the 'Notorious' was granted a shot at the 170lbs title on return from his leg break he would be the first fighter in UFC history to challenge for the opportunity to win a title in a third weight-class after previously holding the 155 and 145lbs titles.

UFC President Dana White also hinted Conor McGregor's UFC return may come against Michael Chandler.

The lightweight fighter is coming off a stunning win over Tony Ferguson after he KO'ed 'El Cucuy' with a front kick at UFC 274.

The UFC chief said: “Yeah, that's a fun one man, who the hell wouldn't want to see that fight.

“But Conor's not ready yet, Conor's still hurt. When Conor is 100 percent - can actually start training for a fight - we'll then talk about what's next for Conor.

“Who doesn't want to see Chandler vs. Conor - raise your hand.”

No date has been set for the Crumlin natives return to the Octagon.
