Burnley slap whopping £40MILLION price-tag on West Ham and Fulham target Nick Pope – even if they get relegated

BURNLEY are asking a staggering £40million for keeper Nick Pope — whether they stay in the Premier League or not.

Pope, 30, will be a wanted man this summer and Fulham are keen, with a potential three-year contract on offer.

But the Clarets want a huge fee for the England ace.

As SunSport revealed earlier this year, Fulham have been eyeing Pope for a while, while West Ham have also been linked.

But the clubs had hoped to pay closer to £20m - especially with Burnley staring at relegation.

Fulham also want to talk veteran Nemanja Matic into staying in the Prem after he leaves Manchester United.

The Championship winners are keen to bring the ex-Chelsea midfielder back to London.

Matic, 33, has played a key role at United lately and is still very capable at the top level.

But he is choosing to move on rather than be part of Erik ten Hag’s revolution.

Clarets boss Mike Jackson, meanwhile, will send Burnley into their do-or-die survival scrap with the message: make it the memory of a lifetime.

Jackson, handed the reins when Sean Dyche was sacked last month, said: “You always remember the group, because you’ve been through a lot together.

“I can remember now the teams I got promoted with. I can tell you about every one of them and the way the dynamic of the group was, how strong it was.

“You can walk past the lads in the street and speak to them in ten, 15 years because you still have that bond. It’s the same again here.

“There have been injuries, the pressure of games, so to keep delivering is credit to them.

“I just see a group of mates who don’t really care who they’re playing against. Every game since we’ve been here has been called ‘a must’, where you’ve got to get something out of it.

“The lads have been delivering and the performances have been strong.”
