Newcastle’s 2022-23 away kit ‘leaked’ with green and white strip almost exactly the same as Saudi Arabia’s

NEWCASTLE UNITED will reportedly be wearing the same colours as Saudi Arabia next season after their new away kit was allegedly leaked.

The jersey, designed by Castore, is set to have the traditional green and white colours of the Gulf State.

The Premier League side are 80 per cent owned by the Saudi-based Public Investment Fund.

And now the have claimed their new away shirt is set to honour them with its new-look.

Newcastle’s official club badge plus the sleeves and neck trim have been coloured green on it.

And it will be on an all-white backdrop - which makes it resemble the Saudi national team kit.

The Magpies will likely view it as an opportunity to increase revenue via shirt sales in the Middle East country as well as “representing their owners” next term.

Some fans seemed to love the design after it was leaked on social media.

But not everyone was as pleased as they instantly spotted the Saudi links.

One supporter tweeted: “Now where did they get the inspiration from for this I wonder?”

Another commented: “Looks quite smart but yeah, Saudi boys.”

A fellow Toon follower wrote: “That’s the most Saudi Arabian styled kit you’ll ever see!”

As another said: “That’s awful.”

Meanwhile, boss Eddie Howe recently played down the idea that the club would have a bottomless pit of cash to spend in the summer transfer window.

He said: “With Financial Fair Play, we have restraints and we have things that we have to work within.

“We can't just go out and spend money on players like maybe teams could have done in the past, and totally change their squad within one transfer window. That is not an option for us.

“The more money you spend in one window, the more it impacts your ability to then spend in windows beyond. The rules are there to govern the game properly and we have to follow suit, so that does impact what we can do this summer.

“But it doesn't mean that we're totally without ambition. We're well aware that we have to change the squad and we have to make improvements, but it's going to be a difficult balance.”
