RUN OF THE MILL

Bradford boss Mark Hughes wants to make in-demand Barnsley striker George Miller his first signing

MARK HUGHES is weighing up a move for Barnsley's George Miller on a free transfer.

But the Bantams face stiff competition from newly-promoted League One side Exeter for the 23-year-old striker.

Miller, who is out of contract this summer, spent last season on loan in League Two with Walsall, scoring 12 league goals in 41 appearances.

The forward, who has had two temporary spells at fourth tier Bradford, has also attracted interest from Stockport.

They could return to the EFL by winning the National League on Sunday.

Miller was on loan at Bradford for the duration of the 2018-19 season from Middlesbrough.

But he was only half-way through that deal when Boro flogged him to Barnsley for £200,000.

The Tykes agreed to let him see out the rest of the season at Valley Parade.

But despite that buzz of interest, Miller returned a paltry three goals in 28 games.

Bradford were relegated from League One, finishing rock bottom in 24th with 41 points from their 46 games.

But Miller would be joining a very different club this time around.

The appointment of former Blackburn and Stoke boss Hughes created quite a stir at League Two level.

And major changes off the field at boardroom level and across many parts of the club look to have the fans back believing in the Bantams.
