Borussia Monchengladbach wish Lionel Messi a speedy recovery ahead of Barcelona Champions League clash
Messi will miss Wednesday's match in Germany after suffering groin strain against Atletico Madrid.
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH have tweeted a message of support to Lionel Messi ahead of Wednesday's clash with Barcelona in Germany.
The Argentine forward has been ruled out for three weeks with a groin strain sustained during the Catalan side's 1-1 La Liga draw against Atletico.
Most fans would expect the Germans to be pleased to see Barcelona's talisman ruled out in a game where defeat would all but put them out of the Champions League.
Borussia Monchengladbach opened their campaign with a 4-0 loss to Man City at the Etihad in a match rearranged due to rain.
But it looks like they've taken the poetic words of Barca boss Luis Enrique to heart.
“To lose Lionel Messi means football loses and we lose,” he said.
Or maybe they realised Barcelona have won 75 percent of matches without Messi since Luis Enrique took over, so they better play nice.
On their German account, the club posted: "What a pity! We would have liked to have seen you on Wednesday with @FCBarcelona at Borussia Park. Get well, Lionel Messi."
In response, Barcelona thanked Gladbach for their support.
"Thanks, we look forward to the upcoming game!" the Catalan side tweeted in German.
While the player added his own message of thanks on Facebook.
Messi will also miss Argentina's World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Paraguay.
The injury prompted a row between Barcelona and Argentina boss Edgardo Bauza, who accused the club of overplaying his captain.
