‘That is a nonsense’ – Jamie Carragher slams Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick for juggling Austria job with consultancy role
RALF RANGNICK should NOT be working part-time for Manchester United whilst managing Austria.
That is according to former Liverpool captain and TV pundit Jamie Carragher.
Rangnick, 63, was confirmed as Austria boss last week on a two-year deal with the national team.
The German’s continued work at Old Trafford will be limited to six days a month in a consultancy role ‘focused around recruitment’.
And Carragher was adamant on that it should not be allowed to go ahead.
The 44-year-old said: “That is wrong. That should not be happening.

“The manager of Austria should not be working part-time for Man United, that is a nonsense.”
The ex-centre back went onto say that handling both roles just isn’t manageable, nor is it acceptable.
He said: “Let’s not forget that Rangnick isn’t really a manager. He’s a director of football or someone who helps the coaches or builds a club.
“And that’s the talk about the role he’s going in and I just don’t get that.

“I don’t think you can be the manager of Austria and work for Man United.
“It’s one or the other.”
Rangnick will take charge of his first Austria matches in May for their Uefa Nations League games with Croatia, Denmark and France – once the Premier League has finished.
After that he will oversee Austria’s Euro 2024 qualification campaign and if he qualifies for the competition his contract will be automatically extended by two years.
United fans on social media agree with Carragher and are showing their disbelief at the decision.
One wrote: “This part-time stuff will only harm the club. Have no idea how such club as United is okay with this.”
