United Arab Emirates is second at £9.94 a pint and Oman third at £7.97.

All three are Muslim countries, which restrict alcohol availability.

However, booze will be served in designated Fifa fan zones and select areas of stadiums during the tournament this winter.

England fan Oliver Crooks, 45, of St Albans, Herts, said: “I normally sink a few pints while watching football.

"If we got to the final, it would cost me a fortune.”

The most expensive beer in Europe is found in Norway at £7.90 a pint.

But those looking for a cheap night out should head to Burundi in East Africa where a pint is as little as 59p.

It means you can get a round of 17 drinks there for the same price as one pint in Qatar.
