MO WORRIES

‘It’s not all about money’ – Mo Salah puts Liverpool future in doubt as he says he ‘doesn’t know’ if he’ll sign new deal

LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah has cast doubt on his long-term Anfield future ahead of the Merseyside derby and insists it’s not about the money.

The star has become a legend at the club after firing 155 goals in 245 games since his arrival from Roma in 2017.

Those strikes have helped deliver a Champions League and Premier League crown, but he has refused to confirm whether he will pen an extension to stay.

Salah, 29, only has a season left on his current deal and will be free to speak to foreign teams from January over a potential free transfer away.

The Kop king, who will be looking to down Everton on Sunday, has previously stated the situation is in the club’s hands and that they know what he wants from the new contract.

He has been in regular talks with Liverpool over a fresh package - but he does not sound confident that he will sign it.

Salah told: “I don’t know, I have one year left.

“I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract, it’s not everything about the money at all.

“So I don’t know, I can’t tell you exactly. I have one year left and the fans know what I want.”

The Egyptian forward did add that his ideal scenario would be to remain at Liverpool but he insists he is not panicking over his future.

He said: “I’m not worried, I don’t let myself worry about something.

“The season didn’t finish yet, so let’s finish it in the best possible way — that’s the most important thing.

“Then in the last year, we’re going to see what’s going to happen.”

Salah is not only one of Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasing stars that are facing uncertainty over their future.

Both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will be out of contract in June 2023.

But the Reds have been active elsewhere in tying down other squad members for the long-term.

Skipper Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson have all signed on the dotted line over the past year.
