Barcelona 2 Eintracht Frankfurt 3 (3-4): Barca dumped out of Europa League in quarter-finals after Nou Camp humiliation

BARCELONA were dumped out of the Europa League in a humiliating home loss to Frankfurt.

Xavi's LaLiga giants were expected to wipe the floor with their unfashionable opponents at the Nou Camp after drawing in Germany last week.

But Filip Kostic had other idea as the winger's double helped earn a semi-final showdown with West Ham.

Frankfurt got off to a dream start after Kostic slotted home a penalty in just the fourth minute following a foul by Jordi Alba.

Things then got even better in the first half when Rafael Borre scored a screamer from around 25 yards out, as Barcelona sunk without a trace.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who was ultimately subbed off - missed a couple of golden chances as the Catalans desperately tried to find a way back into the tie.

But were far less threatening than their opponents and it was instead Frankfurt who fired the final nail in their coffin as Kostic struck again in the second half to end Barcelona's 15-game unbeaten run in style.

Sergio Busquests thought he pulled one back in the last ten minutes but the goal was ruled out for offside.

And Barca did managed to give the scoreline an unwarranted air of respectability as they scored twice in stoppage time.

The first came from a brilliant Busquets half-volley.

Then, with NINE MINUTES of added time almost up, Luuk De Jong was fouled inside the penalty box, with Evan Ndicka sent off.

Memphis Depay stepped up and his penalty only just crossed the line after goalkeeper Kevin Trapp tipped the ball onto the bar.

But that proved to be the last kick of the game as Frankfurt recorded a famous victory.

Eintracht, currently in ninth place in the Bundesliga, will now face West Ham, 4-1 aggregate winners over Lyon.
