It marked his first appearance at the Santiago Bernabeu since February 2020.

Bale has fallen out of favour with Carlo Ancelotti at the club and rarely makes an appearance in the starting line-up.

Real Madrid fans have also lost faith in the star, and made their feelings known as he came on for the final 15 minutes against Getafe on Saturday.

As his name was announced, Bale was greeted by a wave of boos and whistles.

But, instead of being annoyed, he simply laughed it off.

The Whites went on to win the game 2-0 courtesy of goals from Casemiro and Lucas Vasquez.

Bale is set to leave Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer after spending nine years at the club.

While he got off to a flying start back in 2013, the past few years haven't been as successful for the Welshman.
