‘I’m going to get in trouble here’ – John Terry sends cheeky Chelsea transfer plea to ‘incredible’ Declan Rice

JOHN TERRY sent a cheeky plea for Declan Rice to join Chelsea in a mega summer transfer.

The former Blues skipper has remained in contact with Rice since the protégé left the West London club's academy.

Terry called Rice when the 14-year-old was released and continues to be a mentor even with the latter at rivals West Ham.

There, he has developed into one of the best midfielders in the country, a starter for England and linked with a massive transfer to either Chelsea or Manchester United.

Now Terry is trying his best to steer Rice's head back towards West London, especially with the Hammers vice-captain coming from a Chelsea-supporting family.

JT told Astro SuperSport: "I’m going to get in trouble here for what I say!

"You know what, Dec obviously loves Chelsea – I think everyone knows that.

"I think the rejection he had from Chelsea has really helped his career actually. What he’s done at West Ham is pretty much incredible.

"We saw in the FA Cup [against Kidderminster Harriers in February] when he came on and scored, and again grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.

"I think from Dec’s side of things, I think he’s given everything to West Ham.

"And for me, looking from the outside, unless West Ham go and make a big statement in the summer and go and spend £100million-plus and say, 'We want to keep Dec and we want to bring in top players like you,' then I think he’s got a decision to make.

"I think if West Ham go and spend huge amounts of money, bring in top players, then I think it’s difficult for him to walk away."

David Moyes has insisted West Ham would not sell for less than £150m - and may even demand more.

That would smash the current British transfer record, which currently stands at the £100m Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish last summer.

Rice has continued his impressive trajectory since the pair teamed up to reach the Euro 2020 final - delivering and leading for West Ham as they challenge for another strong Premier League finish and deep into the Europa League.

Asked if he would be a useful addition to Thomas Tuchel's team, Terry nodded and simply added: "Incredible."
