Supporters were also left fuming after the club threw away a 2-0 aggregate lead to crash out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid last month.

And before PSG's Ligue 1 clash against Lorient on Sunday, the home fans showed their discontent towards the 50-year-old.

Pochettino's name was called out over the Parc des Princes tannoy following the announcement of the starting side for the Ligue 1 fixture.

Footage from the ground shows Pochettino being met by resounding boos, whistles and jeers.

It's not exactly clear why the former Tottenham chief was subjected to the boos, but the Champions League defeat combined with links to Old Trafford could be the reason.

Ajax gaffer Erik ten Hag remains the No1 candidate for the Manchester United job, although Pochettino continues to be linked with the role.

And former Red Devil Teddy Sheringham has publicly stated he wants Pochettino to be the next boss ahead of Ten Hag.

PSG superstar Neymar was also booed by the PSG faithful as his name was called out.

The Brazilian playmaker has already been booed by PSG fans this season, alongside Lionel Messi, for their role in the Champions League defeat.

Messi though was cheered on Sunday, while Neymar continued to be in the fans' bad books.

Clearly it hasn't affected him too much though.

Neymar scored PSG's opening goal of the night on 12 minutes, before Kylian Mbappe added a second.

Terem Moffi pulled one back for Lorient, but another goal apiece for Mbappe and Neyar, sandwiched either side of a Messi strike, helped Pochettino and Co to a 5-1 romp.

His side are now 12 points clear of second-placed Marseille at the top of Ligue 1.
