Who is Michael Kay's wife Jodi Applegate?
Jodi Applegate is originally a Pennsylvania native but relocated to New York when she attended New York University.
She graduated from the school with a bachelor's degree in film and television and got a job with NBC and Fox in 1996 where she stayed for more than a decade.
Applegate moved to WPIX TV in 2010 where she took on the position of the solo news anchor at the station.
However, she stayed in the role for only two years, leaving in 2012 when she was due to have her first child who was born via gestational carrier.
Applegate said that if she had stayed at the station she never would have been able to see her family.
"It's a full-time job plus the responsibility of doing two shows and the night shift," she said, adding that regularly other stations would have two anchors, but being the sole anchor meant there was little room for flexibility.
She moved to the Clarity Media Group in June 2013 as a communications consultant and according to her LinkedIn, it is her job to "advise and coach clients on media appearances, presentations, public speaking, and interviewing techniques."
"It's was a very hard decision," Applegate had told The Daily News when she pivoted careers. "But it seemed like a natural moment in my career to step back."
The pair share a daughter, Caledonia, born on January 5, 2013, and a son, Charles, born on November 12, 2014.
