ERIK TEN HAG wants a Dutch coach with Manchester United connections if he takes the Old Trafford job, according to reports.
The Ajax boss, 52, is the new favourite to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent successor.
He had an interview with the Red Devils this week and is thought to be making plans in case he is the successful candidate.
And according to , Ten Hag would want to bring in a former United player into his backroom staff.
They would provide wisdom and understanding of what it means to be at the club - and have a "bond" with the squad, staff and fans.
The report names Dutchman Ten Hag's compatriot trio Robin van Persie, Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy as potential candidates.

Feyenoord assistant Van Persie has the same agent as Ten Hag while ex-Reading chief Stam is said to be reluctant to return to coaching.
Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, is being tipped to be promoted from Jong PSV to become the senior side's head coach when Roger Schmidt leaves.
Ten Hag baffled Tottenham when he only planned on bringing one staff member with him, then-assistant Sjors Ultee, to North London.
Ultee left Ten Hag and Ajax to take over as Fortuna Sittard manager so it would be his new No2 Mitchell van der Gaag alongside him in the Old Trafford dugout - as well as possibly Darren Fletcher or even Ralf Rangnick.

However, he appears to have learnt from that Spurs interview with his new plans - and by taking English lessons.
Ten Hag impressed in Monday's formal meeting.
But the club are still considering Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui with all three set to be interviewed, too.
Any pursuit of Thomas Tuchel may prove a dead end despite the chaos at Chelsea, though, as the German looks on course to stay put at Stamford Bridge.
Should Ten Hag win the battle then United would likely need to pay Ajax around £4million in compensation.
