He would instead defend his belt against Jorge Masvidal, 37, and accused McGregor, 33, of giving him the silent treatment.

Usman, 34, said on : “I would not fight Khabib. Khabib is like my brother, I see no interest in that. Conor, absolutely.

“So one time, before I fought Masvidal, he was tweeting a lot.

“I said, ‘Here’s your chance. If you pick up the phone right now and called the UFC, they ain’t going to say no to you to challenging for the belt.’

“Then, he was quiet. And then the next week he started calling out Anderson Silva, retired fighters, and things like that.

“So would I fight Conor? The offer is there.”

McGregor has three times fought at welterweight, losing and then beating Nate Diaz, 36, in 2016.

He then returned in 2020 to beat Donald Cerrone, 38, at 170lb fuelling talk of a fight with Usman.

McGregor became the first to hold two UFC titles at the same time, reigning as the featherweight and lightweight champion.

But has long eyed another piece of history by becoming the only UFC champion to reign THREE divisions.

McGregor tweeted in November: “I fancy it greatly for the treble.”

His last two fights have been at lightweight, against Dustin Poirier, who he knocked out in 2014.

The first ended in a knockout win for Poirier before McGregor broke his tibia in round one of their trilogy in July.

He has since undergone successful surgery and has returned to training ahead of a comeback this year.
