Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal both slapped with BANS after UFC 272 grudge match as medical suspensions are revealed
COLBY COVINGTON and Jorge Masvidal have both been slapped with medical suspensions following their showdown last weekend.
The former best friends turned bitter rivals clashed in an eagerly-anticipated grudge match last weekend in the main event of UFC 272.
Covington dominated Gamebred for five straight rounds to declare himself the 'King of Miami', but he won't be back in action anytime soon as they've both been handed 45-day bans.
The Nevada Athletic Commission has ordered the pair not be licensed to compete in that time period - which includes a 30-day no-contact ban.
Fan favourite Masvidal, 37, has additionally been ordered to undergo an MRI scan within the next two weeks.
And the results of the scan must be compared to the MRI he underwent in October 2019 ahead of his UFC 244 showdown with Nate Diaz.
Despite being sent to the hospital after his five-rounder with Rafael dos Anjos, lightweight standout Renato Moicano managed to escape with a small suspension.
The Brazilian - who was left a bloody mess by the former 155lb champ - has been slapped with a 60-day suspension and been ordered not to have any contact for the next 45 days.

Jamie Mullarkey received the longest suspension by the commission, with the lightweight being handed a 225-day suspension following his loss to Jalin Turner.
The Aussie's injured ribs resulted in him receiving a 180-day ban, which was topped by an additional 45 days for the stoppage he suffered to the Tarantula.
Despite dominating his former pal, the controversial Covington was less than impressed with his display in their Sin City showdown.
In the post-fight press conference, he said: "It wasn't my best performance.
"Just a lot of emotions going into it.
"That was a real friend of mine at one point in my career. I let my emotions get the best of me.
"But it was still dominant. I showed the world how good I was."
But as he made his way past press row, an elated Covington said: "I run the f***ing 305! I'm the king of 305."
