Jorge Masvidal’s manager teases fight with ‘jacked’ Conor McGregor after Colby Covington loss as UFC star eyes return
JORGE MASVIDAL has vowed to bounce back after defeat to Colby Covington - as his manager teased a fight with Conor McGregor.
Masvidal suffered a crushing loss to former friend-turned bitter rival Covington at UFC 272.
Before the grudge match, he had signed a new contract which made him one of the UFC's highest-paid stars.
And even after his most heartbreaking of setbacks, Masvidal warned it would not be the last of him.
He tweeted: "Far from over. I will be back."
Talk soon turned to what could be next for Masvidal, now beaten in his last three fights.
The Cuban-American, 37, was in 2020 linked with a fight against McGregor, having enjoyed a meteoric rise the year before.
But he would instead fight Kamaru Usman, 34, losing by decision in July 2021 before suffering a knockout in their rematch last April.

McGregor, 33, having also lost consecutively to Dustin Poirier, 33, in 2021, was once again raised as a potential opponent for Masvidal.
UFC president Dana White once said the welterweight contender was 'too big' for former two-weight champ McGregor.
But Masvidal's manager Malki Kawa shot down any suggestion of a size discrepancy having seen McGregor at a recent Bellator event in Ireland.
Kawa tweeted: "I saw McGregor in Dublin. He’s not small. He looked like he walks around 195-200lbs jacked."
White admitted he does not know what is next for Masvidal or Covington, 34, who secured bragging rights with a points win.
The UFC chief said: “I don’t know, that’s a good question. We knew tonight, whoever lost, ‘What would be next?’ and ‘Where would they go?’
"And I don’t know, sitting right here, right now, I don’t know. On either one of them, even Colby, who won.”
