UFC 272: What Colby Covington said off camera as he went backstage after beating Jorge Masvidal in grudge match
COLBY COVINGTON declared himself the 'King of 305' as he made his way backstage after his showdown with Jorge Masvidal.
The former interim welterweight champion dominated his old pal in the main event of UFC 272 on Saturday night to put himself back in the win column.
Covington was in a jubilant mood as he made his way backstage following his unanimous decision victory over Gamebred, after which he roared off-camera: "I run the f***ing 305!
"I'm the king of 305."
Covington, 34, dominated Masvidal with his wrestling for five straight rounds, although he was dropped and hurt in the fourth.
Chaos was far from impressed with his display in the Battle of the 305.
He said: "It wasn't my best performance. Just a lot of emotions going into it.
"That was a real friend of mine at one point in my career. … I let my emotions get the best of me.
"But it was still dominant. I showed the world how good I was."
Victory in his grudge match with Masvidal saw Covington return to the win column - which he was out of following a decision defeat to Kamaru Usman last October at UFC 268.
And he's set his sights on settling another feud - targeting a showdown with former team-mate Dustin Poirier.
He said: "I just took care of Miami street trash, now it's time to take care of Louisiana swamp trash.
"Where you at Dustin Poirier, you cuck, you said it's on-sight, name the site.
"Dustin, bring down your wife and bring that little kid that's caught us in and I'll see you soon, you're next."
Poirier, who is currently on holiday in Jamaica, replied to the callout on Twitter, saying: "Bombaclot!"
