Fuming Eric Dier confronts and screams at Son Heung-min after Tottenham star loses ball against Middlesbrough
TOTTENHAM stars Son Heung-min and Eric Dier had an intense confrontation during last night's loss to Middlesbrough.
Tensions boiled over in Spurs' FA Cup clash with Boro at Riverside Stadium as Antonio Conte's men couldn't break the deadlock and avoid extra-time.
It all showed in the 80th minute when Son was dispossessed and that led to a dangerous counter-attack by Chris Wilder's men.
Middlesbrough only managed a shot off target but that didn't save the South Korea international from Dier's fury.
The defender confronted his team-mate and gave him an intense dressing down for his previous error.
Tottenham endured a miserable night as the game went to extra-time and Boro won 1-0 thanks to Josh Coburn's winner on 107 minutes.
The north Londoners are out of the FA Cup and manager Conte admits there have been "too many ups and downs".
The Italian head coach said: "We lost a good chance to go to the next round and play in the quarter-finals of an important competition like the FA Cup.

"There is for sure disappointment for the final result. I think this type of game, especially when you play away, against a team that play in the [Championship] you have to know the difficulty.
"For this reason, we had to try to kill - in a sporting way - the opponent quickly. We have had the chances to score but we didn't take it.
"And then you give confidence to your opponent and you risk [defeat]. At the end, Middlesbrough won the game and deserved to go to the next round.
"Today we are talking about a defeat. The last game we won. Two games ago we lost. Three games ago we won.
"I can't hide the reality. We're having too many ups and downs. This is a problem and maybe it was also in the past.
"In my opinion, there is only one way to try to improve: to continue to work in every aspect."
