UFC boss Dana White expects Conor McGregor to fight Nate Diaz in epic trilogy decider before he retires
DANA WHITE would be 'shocked' if Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz never complete their trilogy decider.
Diaz in 2016 became the first man to beat McGregor in the UFC, scoring an upset submission stoppage in round two.
The Irishman would avenge the loss five months later in a five-round thriller but a trilogy bout failed to materialise.
Diaz is now in talks with Dustin Poirier but UFC boss White warned not to rule out McGregor finally facing his American rival down the line.
He told TMZ Sports: “We are still working on that fight. That fight’s not done yet.
"But yeah, I wouldn’t count out a Conor-Nate 3. Listen, I’d be shocked if that fight didn’t happen."
Diaz, 36, has warned he will fight the final bout on his UFC contract before retiring from MMA.
Whereas McGregor, 33, is working towards his comeback having last fought in July against Poirier, 33.

But it ended in disaster as he broke his tibia seconds before the end of round one, leaving him sidelined.
McGregor, who underwent successful surgery immediately after the loss, is eyeing a return in the summer.
White said: “Yeah, you know, he’s chomping at the bits to come back.
"Realistically, when you look at everything that he’s got going right now with coming back and other things that need to be done to get ready to prepare again, it’s probably early fall.”
McGregor has been told by doctors he can resume sparring in April, allowing himself to start training camp at the same time.
