‘One of the best performances all season’ – Shearer hails ‘aggressive’ Kane after Tottenham’s win over Man City

PREMIER LEAGUE record scorer Alan Shearer lauded Harry Kane's stunning performance against Man City on Saturday.

England skipper Kane scored twice in Tottenham's incredible 3-2 win, and was also heavily involved in Dejan Kulusevski's opener.

But it wasn't just the 28-year-old's goals that caught Shearer's eye.

The Newcastle legend gushed on Match of the Day: "That's one of the best all-round centre-forward performances I've seen all season, anywhere.

"Intelligence, aggression, goals, assists, he was just far, far too good for City's centre-halves Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias - and it is not very often we say that. He was just too clever for them."

Kane gave the City defenders the run-around at the Etihad, and even had a goal ruled out for offside that would have given him a hat-trick.

And Shearer added: "Spurs kept on getting runners forward to feed off Kane and get in behind. His first-time pass to release Son Heung-min for their first goal was absolutely sensational.

"For Tottenham's second goal, I knew, as soon as Ryan Sessegnon picked up the ball, that Kane was going to score because he spotted the gap and no-one was going to pick him up. Then came the clinical finish.

"It was just incredible to watch. Everything he did was magnificent, including his winner."

Kane's individual brilliance put Tottenham seven points of fourth-placed Manchester United, but with three games in hand on their fellow Champions League chasers.

It also ended a run of three consecutive Premier League defeats.

The goals were his sixth and seventh in the Prem this season, in what had been an underwhelming campaign to date.

And Liverpool fans will also be thanking Kane for single-handedly dismantling the winning machine that is Manchester City.

The result leaves City six points clear of second-placed Liverpool, having played a game more.

Jurgen Klopp's side also have to travel to the Etihad in April for what could well turn out to be the title decider.
