LEICESTER CITY have appointed former Valencia sporting director Eduardo Macia their new talent spotter.
The 42-year-old Spaniard is Leicester’s new head of recruitment after Steve Walsh became director of football at Everton this summer.
Macia is a former chief scout at Liverpool and has worked before with Ranieri at Valencia - with the Italian keen to team up with him again.
But he has big shoes to fill as Walsh was credited for spotting future Foxes stars Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante and bringing them to the King Power Stadium.
At Liverpool though, Macia played a key role in taking Fernando Torres, Raheem Sterling and Javier Mascherano to Merseyside.
He has also worked with Greek champions Olympiakos, Spanish side Real Betis and Italian giants Fiorentina, all helping him to establish a strong reputation within the game.
Macia arrives ahead of Leicester’s Champions League campaign which begins at Bruges on Wednesday.
But the club’s title defence has got off to a stuttering start with just one league win so far and a heavy defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.
