Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren reveals horrific eye injury that forced him to sit out Leicester City victory
The Croatian defender's eye is completely closed and heavily swollen after an accidental collision in training
THIS is the horror injury that forced Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren to miss his side's game against Leicester City at the weekend.
The Croatian shared photos on social media showing his right eye completely closed and heavily swollen after a training ground collision.
One photo shows the 27-year-old in the back of a car, smartly dressed, captioned: "Bad luck yesterday in training. Hopefully the swelling will go away quickly.
"Lets go now to support the team. Come on Reds."
And in another photo taken at Liverpool's training ground at Melwood, Lovren is pictured posing for a selfie with German utility man Emre Can.
This time the swelling appears to have reduced, with his eye partially open.
Although the Reds enjoyed a comprehensive 4-1 victory at home to The Foxes, Lovren's replacement at centre-half, Lucas, was at fault for the goal scored by Jamie Vardy.
The Brazilian lost control of the ball, and in his frantic attempts to atone for the error, ended up passing straight to Vardy who made no mistake from six yards out.
Lovren is certainly having a hard time of things of late.
It was revealed that his wife, Anita Drazic, was having an affair with a forestry worker back in Croatia, Dario Torbic.
And yesterday, news broke that Dario and his father Damir have been arrested in Croatia over plot to force the centre-back into a £3.5m divorce.
The Torbics are accused of abducting Anita and her sister over fears that they would tell Lovren of the scam.
