Grieving sister reveals heartache at kissing rugby player Jack Jeffery, 27, goodbye as ‘he never got up after tackle’

A GRIEVING sister has today revealed her heartache as she kissed her rugby player brother goodbye after he "never got up after a tackle.";

Rugby star Jack Jeffrey, 27, died from his injuries as he scored a try during a match against Berkswell and Balsall in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

Jack's family have paid tribute to their 'beautiful' boy who died following a rugby accident

The Evesham RFC ace was taken to Coventry's Walsgrave Hospital but sadly passed away from his injuries later on Saturday.

And now his heartbroken family have paid tribute to "beautiful" Jack who was "loved more than words can say."

His grieving sister Daisy revealed that her 27-year-old brother had just scored a try in the match - but he never got back up after an accidental tackle.

And his beloved dad added that the rugby player died "doing the one thing he loved the most."

In a heartbroken statement, Jack's sister Daisy wrote on Facebook: "My beautiful baby brother. I can’t even believe I’m having to write these words.

"It was just a simple game of rugby, like any other Saturday doing what you loved most. You scored an amazing try but just one accidental tackle and you never got back up.

"I’m so sorry they couldn’t save you. And I’m so sorry I had to kiss you goodnight in that hospital bed."

His loving sister added that her life will be "forever empty without you in it."

Daisy added: "I can’t believe I’m never going to be able to dance with you at my wedding, watch us both navigate having families of our own.

"I’ll never be able to hear your laugh around the dinner table or listen to all of your funny stories.

"Our family will never be the same with you not here. I will forever treasure our last day together as a family.

"My kind, wonderful baby brother. My heart will forever break for you. We all miss you so much. I love you more than words. Until we meet again, goodnight."

Writing about the tragic death, Jack's dad Glenn added: "Jack passed away doing the thing that he loved the most, playing rugby.

I’m so sorry they couldn’t save you. And I’m so sorry I had to kiss you goodnight in that hospital bed

"Jack was the most kind-hearted, generous and beautiful son who enriched the lives of everyone who was lucky to know and have met him.

"He will be so missed by his family and friends. RIP our beautiful boy."

There was an outpouring of tributes for the rugby ace over the weekend - as the sport lost a "bright light" in Jack.

England Rugby said in a tribute yesterday: "All of our thoughts are with the family, friends and teammates of Jack Jeffery from Evesham RFC who tragically died yesterday."

And in a statement, a spokesperson for Evesham RFC said: "It is with immeasurable sadness that we have to report the tragic loss of our beloved Jack Jeffery following our Seniors League fixture at Berkswell and Balsall yesterday, February 12."

The club explained how "Jack was adding another try to his phenomenal record" when he was injured.

The statement continued: "A more committed, loyal 'Clubman' is hard to find...As a club, we have been overwhelmed by the messages of support and goodwill from the rugby community. Jack was calm, respected and highly thought of.

"Our club and community have lost such a bright light."
