Cristiano Ronaldo’s poor form laid bare by woeful 2022 shooting record as Man Utd star suffers with goal drought

CRISTIANO RONALDO'S emotional return to Manchester United has been far from the fairytale story he expected it to be.

The Portuguese supremo re-joined Manchester United to win trophies, something that looks increasingly unlikely given he is currently experiencing his worst goal drought since 2010.

And despite Ronaldo being used to setting records, he's currently close to registering a rather unwanted one.

Only two players have attempted more shots in the Prem in 2022 without scoring than Ronaldo.

All eleven of CR7's efforts in league games since the turn of the year have failed to find the back of the net.

Manchester City star Joao Cancelo and Leeds talisman Raphinha are the only two top-flight players with worse records this year - both failing to score with all 12 of their shots in 2022.

The 1-1 draw against Burnley on Tuesday also made it FIVE matches without a goal for the 37-year-old.

It's his worst run of form in front of goal for over ten years.

Not since failing to score in Real Madrid's last two games of the 2009-10 season, and opening three matches of 2010-11 has Ronaldo had a more barren run.

The last time he found the net was during United's 3-1 victory over the Clarets on December 30.

Ronaldo has only scored in six of his 18 Prem appearances for United this season, although he did bag doubles against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Instead he's saved his best form for the Champions League - netting six times in five group stage games to help United top their group.

So the fact United return to European action later this month against Atletico Madrid will be music to the ears of the Portuguese star.
