Paul Smith floors opponent SIX TIMES in one-sided victory on the Kell Brook v Gennady Golovkin undercard

PAUL SMITH continued his ring comeback as he floored his opponent six times in just five rounds at the O2 Arena.

In an excruciatingly painful mismatch, Smith proved levels above Daniel Regi to make it three straight wins since his crushing defeat to American Andre Ward.

Body shots proved the order of the day, with the Hungarian having no defence to stop the barrage.

Regi, who brought a 28-win, 13-loss record to the contest was down for the first time in the third round, after battling well in the opening two.

Smith, 33, then clubbed his opponent down to the canvas a further three times in round four, and after two more knockdowns in the fifth, the referee waved it off.

Speaking ringside to after the scheduled six-round contest, Smith, who moves to 38 wins and six losses, confirmed he still has ambitions to win a world title.

"With my three brothers, I feel if I don't win a world title then I believe I'm the only one who won't and I can't be left behind. I am one of the veterans now but I still feel I've got plenty to offer.

"I'm happy to be fighting. I've got to thank Joe and Eddie for putting me on this bill because these are the type of nights you want to be involved in as a fighter."

Earlier in the night Conor Ben, son of British ring great Nigel, continued his winning form since turning professional, stopping Joe Ducker in the second round.

The fight formed part of the undercard for Kell Brook's shot at boxing glory when he takes on Gennady Golovkin, the ring-walk is scheduled for 10.45pm.
