Scotland star insists Six Nations still achievevable
Scotland ace Stuart McInally has declared that his side remain in contention to win the Six Nations despite their loss to Wales.
He said: "The initial feeling after a loss is devastation and disappointment, you want to deliver for the group and for the people of Scotland.
"You saw last week how it important it was for the whole of Scotland when you get the win.
"Hoggy [captain Stuart Hogg] spoke to the group really well after the game.
"It's disappointing, but the Championship's still wide open.
"We've got France at home next and we'll go into that full of belief. We've had some good results over them recently and we can't wait to move on."
Shanklin calls for Davies start
Former Wales star Tom Shanklin has called for Jonathan Davies to start against England on February 26 following his impressive 13-minute cameo against Scotland.
The ex-centre told the Rugby Union Daily podcast: "He probably doesn't deserve to start at the moment if you're talking about club form.
"Yeah, there'd be loads of credit in the bank but there's probably players in the United Rugby Championship that are playing better than him, but it just shows what experience he has.
"He comes on, he takes the ball off Van Der Merwe straight away but it's also the stuff he does without the ball. There was a clear difference in line speed when he came on, in those outside channels, something that Wales lacked.
"Owen Watkin, Nick Tompkins - maybe they just don't have the confidence to rush up out of the line and get into players' eyelines because they think they're going to expose themselves.
"He did it and he forced Finn Russell, he forced Blair Kinghorn back inside to where the heavy traffic was that was clear.
"In that small space of time, he's probably done enough to start against England, because that's something that Wales lack."
Smith delighted by England win
England star Marcus Smith was delighted by the 33-0 win against Italy at the Stadio Olimpico.
He told ITV: "I've never played here before, there was a special atmosphere, with loads of England fans having come out.
"We had to put a show on for them, we were a bit scrappy and credit to Italy but to score 33 points is always nice.
"To play alongside Harry [Randall] is special, we have a good connection off the field and I hope we have on it as well."
Jones on England's victory
Eddie Jones reckons England could've beat Italy by a higher score.
He said: "They are a tough team, they keep coming.
"If we were a little bit tidy in some of our work, in our running lines, our support lines and the breakdown, it could have been a big score."
Jones praises Smith
Eddie Jones reckons sky's the limit for England debutant Marcus Smith.
Jones told the media in his post-match press conference: “There’s no ceiling to how good he can be.
“If he keeps on wanting to get better, keeps on having a learning mindset.
"He could be an absolutely outstanding player at test level by the World Cup. And obviously that’s pretty important.”
Smith thanks fans
Marcus Smith thanked the England fans for creating a special atmosphere during their win over Italy.
Smith also praises England's forwards who he thinks were brilliant in the game.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Smith said: "It was a special atmosphere.
“Lots of England fans came out to support us.”
“We’re still early in our journey as a team but to win away from home in a tough competition is good and we’ll enjoy tonight.
"The forwards were brilliant and they were brilliant last week at Murrayfield.
Over the moon
Harry Randall was over the moon after making his England debut as they thumped Italy on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to ITV after the game he said: "It was awesome - we had a good week's prep and dug in really well and got the result we wanted.
"It was pleasing to keep them to zero but there a few little things that frustrated us at times out there but nonetheless it was a good performance.
"It's been a dream come true, a big Six Nations game - it's been really good and I've loved every minute.
"It was great with the team around me, I've got experience players around me helping me out, especially during the week so I can't thank them enough for settling me in well - you know we put on a decent performance."
Italy skipper's disappointment
Italy captain Michele Lamaro shared his disappointment over his team's loss to England.
He said after the game: "We’re obviously disappointed again.
“We have to get better in discipline, especially in the first half, we conceded too many penalties. Obviously if you concede them to 30-40 metres each time, it becomes difficult to defend.
"Obviously in defence we have to put something on and I think we can improve a lot.”
Jones' happy with result
England head coach Eddie Jones was full of praise for his side following their win over France.
Speaking after the game he said: “They are a tough team, they keep coming. If we were a little bit tidy in some of our work, in our running lines, our support lines and the breakdown, it could have been a big score.
"But we are happy with that, we worked hard for that, and now we move onto Wales."
Thanks for joining us
That's all from us this evening as England cruised to a bonus point 33-0 win over Italy in Rome.
Despite a number of handling errors littered throughout the second half Eddie Jones' squad registered a shutout victory over a hapless Italian side.
Marcus Smith opened the scoring early on, before a Jamie George double made it 21-0 at half time.
Elliot Daly crossed in the second half for England's fourth, with Kyle Sinckler wrapping things up eight minutes from time.
Interestingly neither side attempted to kick a penalty at goal throughout the entire 80 minutes.
It's now two weeks until England are in action again, as Jones and Co welcome Wales to Twickenham on Saturday 26th.
Meanwhile Italy travel to Ireland a day later in what is sure to be another tough assignment for the Azzurri.
That's all from us for now though.
Thanks for joining us, it's been a pleasure.
More from Eddie Jones
Eddie Jones praised his side from taking the game away from Italy in the first half, something teams aren't always able to do.
His team were 21-0 up at the break after three converted tries.
Jones said: "They [Italy] have played New Zealand and France and in the first halves been in the game – and they were not in the game today.
"Marcus [Smith] did well, Harry Randall did some good things at the start and Alex [Dombrandt] had a really solid game."
Work still to do
Despite cruising to a shutout win over Italy, Marcus Smith insisted there's still plenty of work to do ahead of the clash against Wales.
He said: "We have loads to work on, we are still learning on our journey.
"But we will enjoy tonight and get back on the horse tomorrow."
Table as it stands
Here's what this weekend's results mean for the Six Nations table.
France remain the only team left who can win the Grand Slam after two wins from their opening two games.
England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales all have one win to their name, while Italy have lost both fixtures so far.
The Azzurri have still failed to win a match in the tournament since all the way back in 2015.
Side-stepping Smith
Marcus Smith beat six defenders against Italy this afternoon.
That was the most by any player in the match and also the most by an England fly half in the Six Nations since Jonny Wilkinson beat eight against Ireland in 2002.
It was another excellent performance from the hugely talented Harlequins man.
Next up for both teams
The Six Nations now breaks for next weekend, and will return in two weeks time.
England's campaign resumes with a mouthwatering clash against Wales at Twickenham.
Win that and hopes of winning the title are alive, lose it and it's effectively over.
Italy meanwhile travel to title chasers Ireland who will be out for revenge after being beaten by France yesterday.
Jones jokes about Smith
Eddie Jones couldn't resist but aim a joke at Marcus Smith after he came back to the England dressing room with no shorts on.
He said: "I think Marcus [Smith] got man of the match.
"He lost his shorts, he came back with no shorts on!
"So it must be a pretty good reward that one, the man of the match in Italy."
Eddie Jones reacts to victory
Here are Eddie Jones' thoughts on the game: "We started well, got a bit of a flow.
"Then started the second half well, [and] defended well at the end.
"They're a tough team team, they keep coming.
"If we were a little bit tidier in some of our work, in our running lines, our support lines and the breakdown it could have been a big score.
"But we're happy with that, we worked hard for that, and now we move on to Wales."
Super Smith stars again
Marcus Smith put on another flawless display in an England shirt today.
He scored the opener in the 33-0 rout, making it two tries in time games after he also scored against Scotland last week.
Remember he's just 22-years-old!
Job done for Red Rose
It's very much a case of job done for Eddie Jones and Co.
The second half was punctuated with handling errors, which will have to improve against Wales.
But nevertheless a 33-0 victory away from home is not to be sniffed at.
More from MOTM Smith
Smith says on his opening try: "It was nice [to score], I've never played here before it was special atmosphere.
"There were loads of English fans come out to support us so we had to put on a show for them.
"I thought we did that in parts, we were a bit scrappy in parts, credit to Italy they threw everything at us.
"But to score 35 points [33] I think it was, it's always nice."
Smith speaks after victory
Here are the post match thoughts of player of the match Marcus Smith.
He tells ITV: "We put a big emphasis on this week, we were very disappointed on the plane home from Murrayfield.
"We had to pick ourselves up us a group, the leaders spoke, Eddie [Jones] spoke earlier in the week about our next job.
"And we put ourselves back in the competition with that win today."
Full time - Italy 0-33 England!
Eddie Jones and Co register their first win of the tournament!
Italy meanwhile slump to 99 defeats in the competition with this latest defeat.
And with a trip to the Aviva to take on Ireland next you'd think they will clock up the century of losses in two weeks time.
Italy 0-33 England - No try!
The decision is NO try, as Slade shakes his head in disappointment.
That will be full time though, as England win convincingly in Rome, keeping their opponents to nothing on the scoreboard for the first time ever.
Italy 0-38 England - Try scored!
England finish with a flourish as Henry Slade touches down on the line!
As they did against France last week, Italy concede with the final play of the game.
The TMO are having a look at this one, with Slade looking like he's lost control of the ball as he touches down.
This one will be chalked off.
Italy 0-33 England
79. The answer to that is no, and sums up Italy in a nut shell.
Pettinelli fumbles the ball at the base of the scrum, gifting England the put in to the next one.
We're into the final minute of the game.
