JAKE PAUL has insisted he is ‘dead serious’ about taking on pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez.
And the YouTuber-turned-boxer swore on his mother’s life he has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Mexican megastar.
Paul is undefeated in five fights but has faced criticism for the low calibre of his opponents so far.
But the 25-year-old star is convinced it’s only a matter of time before he gets a world title shot.
He told : “I’m being dead serious. On my mum’s life I’m being serious. That I can contend with him, three years from now.”
He added: “I have a long way to go and I know I can become a world champion because I’ve sparred against world champions.
“I have great coaches and amazing people around me and I have a giant chip on both shoulders.
“I want to prove everyone wrong and I’m going to, just for fun.”

Paul was speaking alongside promoter Eddie Hearn, who joked he would want a piece of the action if he stepped into the ring with Canelo.
Hearn quipped: “Maybe I’ll promote it.”
And Paul insisted Hearn could make up to £55MILLION from the event as he poured scorn on recent Canelo victim Avni Yildirim.
He said: “The one guy [Yildirim] recently goes three rounds and quits in the corner and doesn’t throw a punch.
“How much did he get paid? I have way more heart than that guy. I’m way more athletic than that guy.”
