INJURY UPDATE

Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick gives Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes injury updates after Middlesbrough loss in FA Cup

RALF RANGNICK is hopeful Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho will be fit to play in Tuesday night's trip to Burnley.

Sancho seemed to pull up with an injury during last night's penalty shootout defeat to Middlesbrough, while Bruno Fernandes also took a knock to his back.

But interim boss Rangnick has confirmed Sancho in fact didn't injure his hamstring, as initially feared, having being seen holding the back of his leg.

Rangnick told : "Jadon didn't get a knock, he was just feeling tired."

Sancho was eventually replaced by Juan Mata in extra-time after opening the scoring against Championship promotion hopefuls Boro in the first half.

Ragnick though remains hopeful he will be able to call on Sancho again come Tuesday night.

And it's the same story with Fernandes, who Rangnick expects to recover from the blow to his back in order to feature at Turf Moor.

He added: "Bruno had a knock on his back but could play through the whole game.

It's a small piece of good news from what was a disappointing night for Manchester United overall.

The Red Devils were guilty of wasting numerous chances against Boro, with Fernandes in particular having an excellent chance to win the tie.

He could only strike the post with the goal at his mercy, and in the end Anthony Elanga's missed penalty saw the 12-time FA Cup winners crash out 8-7 on spot-kicks.

Tuesday's visit to bottom of the league Burnley is Man Utd's second in a run of four fixtures in just 11 days.

Back-to-back home games against South Coast sides Southampton and Brighton follow.

That hectic run of fixtures means Rangnick will need as many bodies available as he can.

And both Sancho and Fernandes expected to be fit in time for Tuesday a huge sigh of relief for the Champions League chases.
