Scotland 20-17 England rugby LIVE RESULT: Cowan-Dickie error hands Scots penalty try and narrow Six Nations victory
ENGLAND have been beaten by Scotland in the Six Nations.
The Red Rose dominated proceedings but found themselves 10-6 down at half time thanks to a try from debutant Ben White.
However a well-worked try from Marcus Smith put them ahead in the second half.
Just when England were starting to turn the screw however, Luke Cowan Dickie inexplicably palmed the ball out, gifting the Scots a penalty try for a deliberate knock-on and picking up a yellow card.
The Scots then exploited their man advantage as Finn Russell kicked them into the lead.
Nails were bitten all around Murrayfield in the final stages, but Scotland survived four England scrums to make it two victories in a row over the Red Rose.

More from Townsend
Scotland manager Gregor Townsend insists his team's victory over England will count for nothing if they don't build momentum.
Townsend added: "It counts for nothing if we don't back it up with a performance next week.
"We know how tough it is to play Wales in their own stadium in the Six Nations.
"We know we can play better and we'll have to do that next week"
Curry addresses Scotland loss
England captain Tom Curry called for improvement after the loss to Scotland.
Curry told BBC One: "It was up and down.
"First half, we put ourselves in a good position but in the second half discipline cost us.
"We can't rely on one moment in the game. We need to react and be better ourselves"
Townsend speaks out
Scotland manager Gregor Townsend is confident his team can improve even more.
Townsend told BBC One: "I was so nervous for that set of scrums at the end.
"It was crossing my mind what England might do if they got a penalty, but fortunately it was decided on an error rather than a penalty.
"[Our self-belief] is excellent, as is our character. We were behind and came back. Some of our best rugby was in the last 15 minutes in tricky conditions.
"Finn Russell was superb all game. It means so much to Scotland as a nation. We know we can improve going forward"
Eddie Jones reacts
England manager Eddie Jones congratulated Scotland for their win.
Jones told BBC One: "Scotland were a bit better than us and took their chances.
"There wasn't much in it, but congratulations to Scotland.
"We don't apportion any blame to Luke [Cowan-Dickie] - the referee adjudged it was a yellow card and we have to get on with it. We had opportunities to kick on, but we just weren't clinical enough.
"Given the quality of the competition, we just have to go to Italy and win"

Scotland captain Stuart Hogg:
“I am so delighted, it was a full squad effort. We believe in ourselves as individuals and in ourselves as a collective."
“I said this time last year that this was the start of something special and next week is a challenge to back it up and do it again.”
“I am not going to get carried away, this was one game.”
“We will go back to the drawing board on Monday and make sure that we work incredibly hard to back it up and be the best version of ourselves next Saturday.”

As the captains of both teams are interviewed, they struggle to hear the interviewer's questions repeatedly.
Randomly giving answers to questions they may or may not have heard.
That right there is the power of a Murrayfield crowd in full voice.
Brilliant.
