The 20-time Grand Slam winner is still recovering from knee surgery last August that sidelined him from Wimbledon this summer.

Forbes' figures for 2022 are yet to be released.

But in 2021 the only two women in the top 10 were second and third respectively, Japan's Naomi Osaka with £41m and USA icon Serena Williams on £26.4m.

Moving further down the 2021 list, Japan's Kei Nishikori pocketed around £19.8m last year, just ahead of Nadal's £19.7m.

Russian Daniil Medvedev is seventh on £10.9m, followed by Austria's Dominic Thiem with £8.1m, Greek ace Stefanos Tsitsipas on £5.6m and German Alexander Zverev with £4.1m.

That leaves him limping by on a net worth of around £123m, including £45m winnings.

But one to watch is Murray's fellow Brit, 2021 US Open queen Raducanu, whose near £2.5m prize money last year has been slowly dwarfed by the 19-year-old's glamorous endorsement deals.
