Wakefield Wildcats car crash: Rugby league stars Chris Annakin, Danny Kirmond and Richard Owen injured in horror incident

The trio of players remained in hospital overnight but do not have life-threatening injuries

THREE Wakefield Wildcats rugby league players were hospitalised after a horror car crash on Thursday.

Chris Annakin, Danny Kirmond and Richard Owen remained in hospital after the incident at 4pm on Thursday in the Heath Common area, close to their Belle Vue home ground.

A club spokesman said: "The Club are aware of a road traffic accident that occurred at approximately 4pm in the Heath Common area [Thursday].

"Three players, Chris Annakin, Danny Kirmond, and Richard Owen were involved in the accident, and all remained overnight in hospital with various injuries, although none are life threatening.

"Police and Ambulance staff attended the scene, and the Club are liaising with them to ascertain exactly what occurred.
