Gary Lineker ends Match of the Day with cheeky ‘Daniel Farke’s off’ joke after Norwich manager sacked
MATCH OF THE DAY host Gary Lineker signed off Saturday's show with a cheeky 'Farke's off' - and footie fans loved it.
The 60-year-old former Tottenham and England striker was referring to the decision taken by Norwich to sack their manager Daniel Farke.
This came just minutes after he had guided the Canaries to their first Premier League win of the season, 2-1 away at Brentford.
Lineker was seemingly as bemused as many by the timing - but he managed to wait 1hr 20mins before delivering his best line.
He ended with: "Well that's it, Norwich finally win a game and Daniel... Farke's off."
One football fan posted on Twitter that it was a 'wonderful sign off', while Ian Chard wrote 'well played'.
One Aston Villa fan believes Lineker could get into trouble for the comment, writing: "Brilliant but you just know @GaryLineker is gonna get a b******ing for that."
Many wondered how Lineker managed to say the words with 'a straight face'.

The Canaries finally bagged all three points in a Premier League game as they beat the Bees 2-1 in west London.
However, despite losing eight of their previous ten matches, Norwich have now axed Farke, 45, ahead of the international break - despite giving him a new four-year deal in July.
Shocked Farke learnt he was axed straight after his post-match press conference.
The players were told on the team bus following a summer that saw £60million spent on new arrivals.
A statement from the club on Saturday evening read: "Norwich City can confirm that head coach Daniel Farke has left the club with immediate effect.
"Daniel departs Carrow Road having overseen 208 competitive games at the helm across a four-and-a-half-year spell.
"He joined the club in the summer of 2017, guiding City to a 14th-place finish in the Sky Bet Championship in his opening season in England.
"The 2018-19 season was a memorable one, as Daniel’s side claimed the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.
"After a season in the Premier League, a second Championship league title followed in the 2020-21 campaign, as City accumulated a club record 97 points, securing a return to the top-flight at the first attempt.
"Backroom staff members Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John have all also left the club.
"The club will issue a further update on its first team staff in due course."
