SERGIO AGUERO has already blazed a trail in the race to the golden boot.
The Manchester City striker has notched six goals in just three games in all competitions in making a blistering start to life under new boss Pep Guardiola.
His nearest challenger is Manchester United's new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic on four (which includes his goal in the Community Shield victory against Leicester).
Aguero followed up a hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League play-offs last week by notching two goals in the 4-1 away win at Stoke on Saturday.
He had already started the scoring for his club on the opening day of the Premier League season with a fourth-minute penalty helping City to a 2-1 home win against Sunderland.
And the gap between him and his fellow strikers could have been even bigger had he not missed twice from the spot in the Bucharest romp.
The top scorers in all competitions so far...
Sergio Aguero - 6
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 4
Nolito - 2
Cheikhou Kouyate - 2
Cristhian Stuani - 2
Philippe Coutinho - 2
Etienne Capoue - 2
Diego Costa - 2
The 28-year-old must fancy his chances of stretching further clear before the next round of Premier League games - if he is risked by Guardiola.
On Wednesday City host Steaua at the Etihad, but with their progression into the Champions League proper practically guaranteed, Guardiola may use the tie to give his fringe players a run-out.
