Laura Trott and Jason Kenny’s relationship in pictures: The golden Olympics couple who got engaged on the sofa and won the nation’s hearts
YESTERDAY Laura Trott and her fiance Jason Kenny made Olympic history by both winning cycling golds at Rio 2016 - but what else do we know about the golden pair?
And on the same evening, her future husband Jason Kenny, 28, won his sixth gold medal in the keirin, also equalling Sir Chris Hoy's record.
As soon as Jason's race finished, all eyes were on the couple and there wasn't a dry eye in sight as spectators watched an emotional Laura jump over the barrier to celebrate both their triumphs.
While speaking to the BBC, Olympian Jason said: "We never thought in a million years we'd get anywhere near it here [in Rio] and then we've turned up and done the business again which is just incredible."
And speaking of his fiancee's success he continued: "It's nice to win together obviously. I'm really happy for Laura, she's done really well. I'm really proud of her.
"The best thing about is that we get to come away together and race together. Not many couples in the Olympic village can enjoy their success together.
"So that's really special and I feel really lucky about that."
Laura was also keen to share her pride about her partner's win, writing on Twitter just minutes after the race: "Arghhhh!!!!!! I love him to bits @JasonKenny107 !! Our kids have to get some of these genes right?!"
Laura and Jason now have 10 gold medals and one silver between them, making them the most successful couple in Olympic history - but despite their incredible achievements they live a fairly normal life.
The couple, who got engaged on Christmas Day 2014, first went public with their relationship at the London 2012 women's volleyball final when they were snapped kissing behind David Beckham.
And after the media picked up on the pictures, Laura confirmed their romance saying,“Been a little while now just didn’t want the distraction before the Games.”
Now, they live together in a cottage in Cheshire with their springer-cross poodles Pringle and Sprolo and Jason proposed to Laura while on their sofa while watching an episode of EastEnders.
The pair are planning to tie the knot next month but with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics already in sight, they might consider having children early so Laura can compete.
But regardless of whenever the couple do decide to have little ones, bookies already reckon the duo are likely to pass on their superstar genes to their kids.
William Hill have rated the odds of her offspring following her onto the podium.
A statement said: “In the past we have offered 500-1 about Kai Rooney playing for England, we also took bets at 100/1 for Jaden Agassi to win Wimbledon but 50-1 is the shortest we have ever offered.
And it seems fans of the couple seem to agree, with one user on Twitter writing: "If Jason Kenny and Laura Trott have babies they will be the fastest cyclists who have ever lived #GBR #2016"
While someone else commented "The #Trott #Kenny babies are going to have a lot to live up to #Rio2016"
Speaking to the BBC this week, Jason's mum Lorraine told of the moment she first met Laura: "The first time I knew something was happening between the two of them was when Jason phoned me up and said, 'I'm bringing Trotty home for a bacon butty.
"I said to him, 'Is she your girlfriend?' 'No, she's just a friend'. She made herself at home straight away. Into the house, sat down, feet up on the sofa.
"We liked her from the off. She's a girly girl, so I can talk make-up and clothes to her. It's such a treat - having had two sons, I've had years of remote-control cars and standing out in the rain, and at last I can talk to someone about posh shoes".
While Laura's dad Adrian reveals the reason why the couple work so well: "The difference in their characters is what makes it work for them.
"Until he gets to know you, Jason is a little bit shy. He's quiet and understated. Laura is bubbly, chatty, just as you see in her interviews.
"If they were both like Jason, God only knows how they'd talk about anything. And God forbid having two Lauras in a household!"
