Piers Morgan locked in Twitter row with Gary Lineker and Gabby Logan over whether Tokyo 2020 Olympics matter
PIERS MORGAN locked horns with Gary Lineker and Gabby Logan on Twitter in a rant about the Olympics.
The outspoken presenter dismissed the 'covid-ravaged Olympics' in Tokyo and also claimed nobody should be celebrating a bronze medal.
He also waded into the debate on 'sexualised' clothing at the Games.
His comments drew a response from BBC presenters Lineker and Logan.
It began when Piers tweeted yesterday: "Nobody cares about these covid-ravaged Olympics.
"I feel incredibly sorry for all the athletes still trying to live their Olympic dream, but that is the harsh reality. And the great champions like Adam Peaty know it.
"It should have been either further postponed or cancelled."
And after Team GB's medal rush on Monday morning - winning THREE golds in five hours - Lineker responded.
He said: "You’re wrong on this one. It’s exhilarating, uplifting and inspiring. Exactly what’s needed in these most depressing of times."
Morgan hit back: "Jugs, you find opening a crisp packet uplifting & inspiring.
"It's great to see Team GB athletes win gold medals, not least so we can stop pretending bronze is an achievement worthy of national celebration, but let's be honest - these Olympics are just not the same without fans."
I think you are wrong Piers. I think some people do care

Logan was also involved, as she responded to Piers' tweet yesterday by saying: "I think you are wrong Piers. I think some people do care."
And she poked fun at Piers today by saying her response had more likes than his original opinion.
Logan's tweet read: "Now I’m not one to keep score, but given I have a tiny following compared to the Twitter Goliath that is Piers Morgan. I’d say the likes to my response to the Olympic naysayer Piers indicate that some people might actually be enjoying these games."
Ex-GMB presenter Morgan then responded to another tweet about bronze medals by saying: "Real sporting champions don't celebrate coming third."
And former Spurs and England striker Lineker responded to Piers again.
The Match of the Day presenter tweeted: "To be in the top 3 in the entire world in your sport is an outstanding achievement."
To which Morgan hit back: "Words you would never hear from Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. True sporting achievement is about winning, not losing."
But Lineker responded: "True sporting greats like them would have the good grace to recognise the efforts of others and not disrespect them."
Piers wasn't finished though, as he then got involved in the debate over 'sexualised' clothing at the Games.
Alongside a picture of Team GB heroes Tom Daley and Matty Lee in their diving briefs, we wrote: "Shocking & shameful that male divers have to wear such overtly sexualising skimpy briefs at the Olympics. I demand full body unitards to protect & respect their dignity."
