Team USA Olympic basketball stars caught inside a Rio brothel… But they claim they thought it was a spa
THREE members of the Team USA men’s basketball side were rumbled as they warmed up for the Olympics in one of Rio’s brothels.
DeAndre Jordan, DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins and DeMar Derozan were allegedly caught entering Termas Monte Carlo, described as ‘one of the high-end brothels in Rio’ by Rolling Stone, according to TMZ.
It has also been claimed that the trio were joined by three more of their team-mates as they took an opportunity to sample the saucy Samba offerings of the Brazilian city ahead of Saturday’s match against China.
Staff at the club are believed to have been instructed to present the venue as a spa, with the true purpose of the shop coming to light when customers are told that it is a male only venue.
The players claim that they innocently believed the words of the club’s staff and only realised what sort of establishment Termas was once they arrived.
TMZ claim a source told them: “They realised it wasn't the right place for them and immediately left.”
Images have emerged, however, of Jordan hanging out by the bar inside the club, while Cousins was snapped alongside a girl who appeared to have her hands wrapped around his waist.
A source from the club says that the men bought some drinks while inside, but that was all.
This is not the first evidence of the basketball stars enjoying themselves since arriving in Rio.
The team decided to ditch the Olympic village accommodation provided for them – instead they are staying on a hired cruise ship.
USA Basketball and Cisco, the team sponsor, have rented out the entire Silver Cloud cruise ship, which will host the star-studded squad, including Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, throughout the competition.
