Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has told manutd.come that this could be a big season for the Red Devils.

The arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane will help United challenge for silverware this season, with the Red Devils trophy-less since winning the 2017 Europa League.

The 33-year-old said: "Yes, I think that everyone wants to give everything for the team; we can feel that in the changing room and the training sessions and the games.

"Everyone is ready, we all have the same target and we have to use that."

HANDS OFF

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is confident Manchester United target Leon Goretzka will sign a new contract at the club.

The 26-year-old has one year remaining on his contract in Munich, with United reportedly keen on Goretzka should Paul Pogba leave the club.

But Nagelsmann is hopeful Goretzka will stay, saying:

"I’m not involved enough that I have a say every day. I stay out of these issues.

"Of course I have talked to him about my plans for him. I’ve told him I’d be happy if he extended and I’m also confident."

BETTER CAUL SAUL

Saul Niguez is available for transfer this summer with Atletico Madrid reportedly giving his representatives the green light to pursue a move, KEALAN HUGHES reports.

The midfielder, 26, hopes to have his future sorted out over the next week, with Premier League clubs circulating.

Saul and his representatives will travel to the UK on Sunday in an attempt to negotiate a move, report The Mirror.

Manchester United are believed to be the favourites to land Saul, with Liverpool also said to be interested.

And with Paul Pogba's future up in the air Ed Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could view the Spaniard as the ideal replacement.

Another Atletico Madrid man linked with Manchester United is England international Kieran Trippier.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the 30-year-old is pushing for the exit door after spending two seasons in the Spanish capital.

Trippier reportedly has a release clause of around £34million, and with a lack of depth at right back United may well make their move in the coming days.

Manchester United and Chelsea target Erling Haaland has spoken on his former teammate Jadon Sancho.

Haaland and Sancho struck up a formidable partnership at Borussia Dortmund, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly keen to reunite the pair at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for just £68million next year, with Europe's top clubs set to battle for his signature.

Haaland said: "Jadon and I had a really good understanding, he's a top player and it's sad he's gone, but that's football,

Haaland turned his back on the chance to move to Old Trafford then with so much uncertainty over whether Solskjaer would stay in charge.

The 21-year-old has a close relationship with his fellow countryman and was unwilling to take the chance on moving to Manchester if the manager was about to be sacked.

Both the striker and his father, former City star Alf-Inge, admitted they did not want to risk working under a boss they had no vibe for if Solskjaer was axed.

The United chief gave Haaland his debut as a teenager at Molde when he was managing the Norwegian outfit.

Jadon Sancho had a fine season in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund last season.

The England winger scored eight and provided 11 assists.

Sheffield United are plotting a loan move for impressive Man Utd youngster James Garner, according to reports.

Pogba is also thought to be impressed by the imminent arrival of Raphael Varane after United agreed a deal with Real Madrid to sign the player.

Varane reportedly hopes to travel to Manchester this weekend, although he will need to quarantine following his landing before undergoing a medical.

The defender has confirmed he is leaving the Spanish capital ahead of his imminent transfer with a farewell message to the Real fans.

Varane posted on Instagram: “These last few days have been charged with many emotions, feelings that I now want to share with all of you.“
