GOOD MORNING MAN UTD FANS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new contract could put Manchester United in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland next year, reports SunSport's Phil Thomas.
United narrowly missed out on Haaland when he left Red Bull Salzburg for Dortmund 18 months ago.
The 21-year-old has a close relationship with his fellow countryman and was unwilling to take the chance on moving to Old Trafford if the manager was about to be sacked.
Both the star striker and his father, former Manchester City star Alf-Inge, admitted they did not want to risk working under a boss they had no vibe for if Solskjaer was axed.
The United boss gave the Norway international his debut as a teenager at Molde.
And now that his own long-term future has been secured after signing a new three-year contract last week, the Red Devils' top brass hope that will leave them as favourites to sign Haaland next summer.
Meanwhile, United are reportedly hoping to sell 10 players this month to fund moves for Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier and Rennes ace Eduardo Camavinga.
Solskjaer is looking to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title after back-to-back top-four finishes.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils are looking to recoup £100million, with Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Diogo Dalot up for sale.
Andreas Pereira, Daniel James, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are also believed to have been deemed as surplus to requirements.
And the Manchester giants are also said to be prepared to cash in on Paul Pogba, who has just a year left to run on his contract.

HAPPY CAMPERS
Manchester United are all smiles during training camp in Scotland.
United have significantly strengthened during the summer transfer window.
Jadon Sancho has joined from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane is set to link up from Real Madrid.
And thus, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing a Premier League title challenge
RICE TOUCH
West Ham star Declan Rice has returned for pre-season training with the Hammers.
Rice was on holiday following an incredible Euro 2020 campaign with England.
The star midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United as well as other clubs, like Chelsea.
According to the Daily Telegraph, however, the 22-year-old has returned to training and is not expected to push for a move this summer
SAFE BERT
Arsenal legend Robert Pires is certain fellow countryman Raphael Varane will succeed at Manchester United.
Pires said: "Yes, Raphael will certainly adapt to English football.
"Surely there will be matches in which he will suffer physical clashes, but he is now a player of great experience.
"I see him well paired with [Harry] Maguire, they will form an excellent duo.
"On my part there was a bit of surprise. In my opinion, president [Florentino] Perez wants to renew his team, but replacing [Sergio] Ramos and Varane will not be easy.
"For sure, the signing of David Alaba is a good choice”
TRIPPIER BOOST
Roma ace Alessandro Florenzi has been identified as a potential replacement for Kieran Trippier at Atletico Madrid.
That is according to AS, who claim Atletico would be open to signing Florenzi, who spent last season on loan at Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United are interested in signing Trippier but Atleti are reluctant to actually let him go.
However, if Diego Simeone manages to find a top successor then that would open the way for United to land the England international
HAALAND RECAP
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new contract could put Manchester United in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland next year, reports SunSport's Phil Thomas.
United narrowly missed out on Haaland when he left Red Bull Salzburg for Dortmund almost 18 months ago.
The 21-year-old has a close relationship with fellow countryman Solskjaer and was unwilling to take the chance on moving to Old Trafford if the manager was about to be sacked.
Both the star striker and his father, former Manchester City star Alf-Inge, admitted they did not want to risk working under a boss they had no vibe for.
The United boss gave the Norway international his senior debut at Molde.
And now that his own long-term future has been secured after signing a new three-year deal last week, the Red Devils' top brass hope that will leave them as favourites to sign Haaland next summer
IN A HARRY
Manchester United are monitoring Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.
Kane was given extra time off after starring for England at Euro 2020 but he failed to report for pre-season training for two straight days, leaving the club "disappointed".
According to ESPN, United continue to hold an interest in the star striker but would have to fend off rivals Manchester City.
Chelsea have also been previously linked with the England captain
POCH ON POGBA
Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has silenced rumours linking Paul Pogba with a move to Paris by stating he already has 'plenty of players'.
Pochettino said: "You see the list of the players that we have at home, we have plenty of players.
"Half of the squad is at home. A few are on holiday.
"I think the performance was good, I am happy, and I don’t want to talk about names of players who are in other clubs"
SAUL SEARCHING
Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez may be the next man to join Manchester United after a flurry of arrivals this summer.
Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have already sealed switches to United, but the Manchester giants are keen to continue spending.
With Paul Pogba's future up in the air, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to add a midfielder to the squad, with Saul strongly linked with a move from Atletico.
And speaking to The United Stand, Fabrizio Romano said: "Manchester United are among the clubs that have been in contact with Saul Niguez’s agent, they have an interest in the player and consider him ‘one of the biggest opportunities on the market.'
"€40-45m will get a deal done, no bid yet"
MISSING MAN
Tottenham star Harry Kane didn’t turn up to training for a second straight day, SunSport’s THOMAS BLOW reports.
Kane is reportedly attempting to force a move away from north London this summer and has informed Spurs of his intentions, with Manchester City keeping tabs.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been previously linked with the star centre-forward.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the England captain has bunked off work in an attempt to leave the club.
The Three Lions international did not report back for training on Monday either, with the north Londoners reportedly fining the player.
The 28-year-old appears to have gone AWOL due to chairman Daniel Levy not honouring a reported ‘gentleman’s agreement’ allowing him to leave
TRAINING SNAPS
Manchester United's preparations for the new campaign continue with a pre-season camp in Scotland ahead after their Premier-League curtain raiser agains Leeds in eleven days time.
WHEN'S RAPHA READY?
A visa issue may prevent Raphael Varane from playing in the 2021/22 Premier League opener against bitter rivals Leeds United.
United signed the 28-year-old on an initial £34million deal that could rise to £42million, but the transfer is being held up according to the Daily Telegraph.
Varane is yet to get a Visa through that allows him into the country, meaning a medical has not yet been completed and he is yet to put pen to paper on a contract.
However there are not thought to be any major issues, it's just a matter of waiting for the paperwork to come through so the deal can finally get over the line.
So Manchester United fans, you can breathe again!
SHAW RETURNS
Manchester United's pre-season training camp in Scotland gets underway today, and look who has joined up with the squad.
It's England's Euro 2020 hero Luke Shaw.
Is the 2021/22 season going to be a big one for him?
UNSELLABLE
The arrival of Raphael Varane at Old Trafford has pushed Phil Jones even further down the centre-back pecking order.
The 29-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since January 2020 and has spent the last 13 months out injured with a knee injury.
With Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly all preferred to Jones, United are eager to offload the former Blackburn Rovers man.
West Ham have been linked with a move for Jones but so far according to the Manchester Evening News he is proving to be unsellable.
Jones' injury record is putting clubs off, and with another two years still left on his contract he could be stuck in limbo when the new season starts.
ABSENT
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not travel to Scotland with the rest of the squad for a pre-season training camp.
The 24-year-old is still recovering after testing positive to Covid-19 and is not well enough to make the trip.
In a statement, Manchester United have said:
"Dean Henderson will miss Manchester United’s Scotland training camp while he continues his recovery from prolonged fatigue after contracting a COVID-19 infection three weeks ago."
NO TRIPPING UP
Manchester United have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Kieran Trippier, William Pugh reports.
That is because Atletico Madrid have reportedly lined up Roma's Alessandro Florenzi as a replacement for the England hero.
The England full-back has been linked with the Red Devils for weeks, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on the former Spurs player.
And the 30-year-old is said to be desperate to move to Old Trafford.
However, with two years remaining on his contract, Atletico are digging their heels in on the fee.
They are reportedly holding out for his £34million release clause to be triggered.
But they are still making plans for Trippier's departure, according to Spanish outlet AS.
BETTER CAUL SAUL
Saul Niguez may be the next man to sign for the Red Devils after a flurry of arrivals this summer.
Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have already sealed switches to Manchester, but United are keen to continue spending.
With Paul Pogba's future up in the air Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to add a midfielder to the squad, with 26-year-old Saul Niguez strongly linked with a move from Atletico.
And speaking to The United Stand, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said:
"Manchester United are among the clubs that have been in contact with Saul Niguez’s agent, they have an interest in the player and consider him ‘one of the biggest opportunities on the market.'
"€40-45m will get a deal done, no bid yet."
NO WAY JOSE
Nemanja Matic will not be swapping Manchester for Rome, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
After Jose Mourinho's attempts to sign Granit Xhaka failed, some reports suggested the ex-United boss had turned his attention to Nemanja Matic.
But Romano has confirmed Matic is not on Roma's radar, with the 33-year-old Serbian international stay to stay at Old Trafford this summer.
ON THIS DAY
It's 24 years to the day since Teddy Sheringham played his first game in Manchester United colours.
Sheringham was part of United's 1999 treble winning squad, playing over 100 times for the Red Devils and scoring 31 times in a four year spell at the club.
DALOT DILEMMA
Does Diogo Dalot stay at Old Trafford and fight for a place in the squad or move onto pastures new?
The Portugese full-back spent last season on loan at AC Milan and has been linked with a return to San Siro, where he enjoyed a relatively successful spell.
When asked for his hopes for the upcoming season, the 22-year-old said:
"Keep developing.
"When I had a season like last season obviously the things start to get more demanding as well.
"I want to keep playing, I want to keep giving everything I have and improve.
"I know last season was fantastic but I can do even more."

ESPN claim that Man Utd hold an interest in Kane, but would have to fend off rivals Manchester City.
