Italy 1 Spain 1 (4-2 pens) LIVE REACTION: Azzurri reach Euro 2020 final as Jorginho nets decisive penalty in shootout

ITALY are into the Euro 2020 final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain.

Federico Chiesa and Alvaro Morata netted in a pulsating 90 minutes, with the Home of Football rocking for what was one of the games of the tournament.

But it was the former Chelsea man Morata who missed from the spot in the shootout, allowing current Blues midfielder Jorginho to slide in the winner.

  • THAT’S ALL FOLKS!

Italy will meet either Denmark or England (COME ON ENGLAND) in the European Championship final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Spain.

On a pulsating night at Wembley, Federico Chiesa put Italy in front before Spain substitute Alvaro Morata levelled 10 minutes from the end of normal time.

Morata’s joy would later turn to tears, however, as he missed the decisive spot-kick for his country before Jorginho won it for Italy.

In just a few hours it will be time for England to do their thing. A less nervy encounter would be much appreciated.

  • ALBA PROUD

Jordi Alba felt that losing on penalties was harsh on Spain, but believes the future is bright for his nation.

He said: "It's a hard blow. We deserved a little more. That's how penalties are. The other day we won and today we lost.

“I’m proud of all the teammates, staff… we've formed a magnificent group.

“Today we played one of the best teams that I remember from Italy and now from Europe.

“I've been in the national team for nine or 10 years and I haven't seen a group like this for a long time.

"We have shown that this team is for the World Cup. We were the team with the clearest ideas.

“People are proud of this Spain. We have left everything, we have worked a lot. I am convinced that it will still go further."

  • ROBERTO REACTION

Roberto Mancini insists his side’s Euro 2020 adventure is far from over after Italy booked their place in the final with a penalty shoot-out win over Spain.

The Italian boss told RAI Sport: “Penalties are cruel. Spain are a great side who play really well. We didn’t play the way we usually do but fought hard.

“They caused us problems, but then we got the right co-ordinates and didn’t risk much.

“We knew from the start that Spain were the masters of possession, so they’d cause us problems, but we had to adjust and fight hard.

“Football teams attack and defend, they cannot just attack. We both had chances, these are both great teams, all teams defend, not just Italians.

“The credit goes to the lads, because they believed in all this three years ago, but it’s not over yet.

“We’ve got to gather our strength, what is left, and prepare for the final.”

  • ITALY 1-1 SPAIN

    115. That was a huge moment!

Belotti has an opportunity to send Berardi through on goal if he gets his pass right on the halfway, but overeagerness gets the better of him and it's cut out by a defender.

  • ITALY 1-1 SPAIN

    111. Did I miss a sub? I think so but it's hardly a surprise now there's been a dozen in the game.

Federico Bernardeschi replaced Federico Chiesa a few moments ago for change number 11, and then Pau Torres came on for Eric Garcia, who was struggling with cramp, for a perfect 12.

  • ITALY 1-1 SPAIN

    110. Berardi has the ball in the back of the net...

...but the flag goes up for offside.

No need for a second look from the VAR officials either, the substitute is clearly a yard ahead of his marker as he's sent clear to sweep home.
