Who is Britt Reid’s estranged wife, Kristen Nordland?
NORDLAND'S husband, former Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, was involved in a February 2021 car crash that left multiple people injured, including a 5-year-old girl with a traumatic brain injury.
Just months after the divorce filing, Britt Reid added to his legal woes in November 2023, when he was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge, driving while intoxicated resulting in serious physical injury.
While at Temple University, Nordland also worked in the Athletics Media Relations department and served as the Assistant to Hillary Kahan, the Marketing and Events Coordinator for Mary K. Dougherty and Associates.
After dating for two years, Reid and Nordland decided to take their relationship to the next step.
The couple got married in July 2012 in Villanova, a few miles away from Philadelphia.
After tying the knot, Nordland worked as a model for the Reinhard Model and Talent Agency.
According to her Instagram, Nordland is also a budding social media influencer.
She also appears to be an independent artist for Seint Makeup, a beauty brand that "empowers women to have a business of their own," according to their .
On May 9, 2023, Nordland filed for divorce in the Johnson County District Court.
The now-estranged couple were married for nearly 11 years.
In the filings, Nordland cited that the couple's “marriage relationship has been destroyed and they can no longer live together as husband and wife."
Nordland also requested "for an order granting her possession of their Overland Park home during the divorce proceedings," and is seeking "an equitable division of their assets and debts."
While Reid has remained somewhat inactive on social media for the last year, she appears to be a doting mom, regularly posting photos and videos of her three children.
He reportedly jumped from his vehicle and started shouting, before picking up a silver .45-calibre handgun and pointing it at Johnson.
Reid, who was 22 at the time, reportedly started making violent threats while smiling erratically.
Police who arrived at the scene found cocaine and marijuana in his car.
Reid ended up going to prison on a slew of weapons and drug charges before eventually graduating to a lengthy stint in mandatory rehab, according to the Times report.
On February 4, 2021, Reid crashed into two parked cars near the Chiefs' training complex, just a few days before Super Bowl LV.
On April 12, 2021, the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced that Reid had been charged with a class D felony that carries a potential jail sentence of one to seven years.
Prosecutors said Reid was driving 83 mph seconds before the collision, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.113 two hours after the crash.
The Missouri legal limit is 0.08.
The pileup caused multiple injuries and left a 5-year-old girl in a coma after he ran into her family's car.
The girl named Ariel, who was seriously injured, woke up from a coma two weeks after the crash.
On November 9, 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that they had reached a settlement with Ariel's family, and would provide her and her family with long-term medical care and financial stability.
As part of a plea deal, Reid pleaded guilty to his charges on September 12, 2022.
"Reid had completed his alcohol abuse treatment program and has served more prison time than most individuals convicted of similar offenses," Parson spokesman Johnathan Shiflett said.
Reid will remain on house arrest until October 31, 2025.
