STRONGMAN Eddie Hall became the first person in the world to ever deadlift half a TON - but then passed out when blood vessels in his head burst from the pressure.

The strongman, 28, nicknamed "The Beast", achieved the amazing feat at the weekend - but admitted afterwards that it nearly killed him.

In previous rounds at the World Deadlift Championships in Leeds, he had lifted 465kg - but that was matched by two rivals which made the man from Stoke-on-Tent decide to try the unprecedented lift.

Taking deep breaths, he managed to lift the barbell weighing half a metric  ton, while being cheered on by deafening roars from the large crowd.

But the atmosphere inside the Leeds Arena became suddenly subdued when Hall sank to his knees immediately after the lift as his team rushed to his side.

He told the  "That nearly killed me.The pressure on my body was surreal. I passed out after. I had nose bleeds. It's not healthy doing something like that.
