Poland 1-2 Slovakia LIVE RESULT: Skriniar gives Slovaks win as Krychowiak is sent off for Poles in Euro 2020 opener

TEN-man Poland have been beaten by Slovakia in their Euro 2020 opener.

The Poles suffered a disaster start after Wojciech Szczesny scored an own goal following a mazy Robert Mak run.

But Karol Linetty netted an equaliser straight after half time.

However they are up against it again after Grzegorz Krychowiak was sent off and Milan Skriniar netted a second for Slovakia.

  • THAT'S ALL FROM SAINT PETERSBURG

Slovakia picked up a major 2-1 victory over Poland at the Saint Petersburg Stadium in their Euro 2020 opener.

Stefan Tarkovic’s men opened the scoring after 18 minutes following an own goal by Wojciech Szczesny.

Robert Mak got the ball down the left flank and put together an incredible solo effort by dancing around both Kamil Jozwiak and Bartosz Bereszynski.

Mak stepped inside the area with a stunning nutmeg and fired a shot from a tight angle that Szczesny couldn’t hold on to.

But Poland came back stronger in the second half and equalised just 32 seconds after the referee’s whistle with a soft shot from Karol Linetty following a cross by Maciej Rybus from the left flank.

Paulo Sousa’s men dominated the game after Linetty’s goal but then disaster stroke as Grzegorz Krychowiak was sent off with a second yellow card on 62 minutes when he bundled on Jakub Hromada with a rough late challenge.

Slovakia then regained control of the match and sealed a winner after 69 minutes with a screamer by Milan Skriniar.

Mak delivered a corner-kick from the right side and found Skriniar at the edge of the box where he produced a tremendous shot and beat Szczesny in style.

That's all from us here in Saint Petersburg, have a great night!

Krychowiak was sent off following a late challenge on Slovakia international Jakub Hromada in the second half.
